Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia (SAB) due to methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) requiring early discharge from hospital.
Dosage and Administration
  • 2g post haemodialysis if next HD session is in two days time.
  • 3g post haemodialysis if next HD session is in three days time.
  • Therapy may last up to 4 weeks.
  • IV infusion over 30 minutes at the end of haemodialysis.

Concentration and Strength
  • 1g vial

  • Physically and chemically stable for 12 hours at 25°C and 24 hours at 2-8°C.
  • From a microbiological point of view the prepared solution should be used immediately.

Reconstitution instructions
  • Each 1g vial should be reconstituted with 4ml water for injection or sodium chloride 0.9%. Further dilute to 50-100ml of sodium chloride 0.9%.

Additional Information

Cefazolin is dialysed out so needs to be given after haemodialysis.
