{"id":1480,"date":"2018-09-12T09:29:02","date_gmt":"2018-09-12T09:29:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/edren.org\/ren\/?page_id=1480"},"modified":"2023-09-12T10:55:46","modified_gmt":"2023-09-12T10:55:46","slug":"full-history-and-examination","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/edren.org\/ren\/handbook\/transplant-handbook\/pre-op-recipient-work-up\/full-history-and-examination\/","title":{"rendered":"Full history and examination"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Particular points of note:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">a)<\/span><span style=\"color: #993300;\"> History<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Cause of renal failure<\/li>\n<li>Dialysis:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>type, when commenced, time of last dialysis, normal target or dry weight<\/li>\n<li>access and any related problems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Volume of urine output + history of past\/present, urinary tract problems<\/li>\n<li>Infections -any recent urinary, CAPD peritonitis\/exit site\/access related<\/li>\n<li>Other operations<\/li>\n<li>Ischaemic heart disease<\/li>\n<li>Peripheral vascular disease<\/li>\n<li>Previous renal transplants, timing and cause of failure<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Recipient<\/span><\/strong> blood group, tissue typing and virology (CMV, EBV, HIV, Hep B &amp; C)<strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\"> must <\/span><\/strong>be recorded in the notes.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Donor<\/span><\/strong> details should also be included in recipient clerking &#8211; age, cause of death, blood group, tissue typing, virology and ischaemic time.
