Same applies after the first week if any complications suspected.<\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Urinary catheter removed at day 5 unless directed by transplant surgeon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">If a patient develops urinary retention after removal of catheter in the post-operative period it should be replaced as soon as possible. This does not need to be a surgeon if it will cause undue delay. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Delayed graft function<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Usually a Doppler ultrasound examination will be requested early on<\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">A routine graft biopsy is usually performed around day 5 &#8211; see <a href=\"http:\/\/edren.org\/ren\/handbook\/transplant-handbook\/management-of-delayed-graft-function\/\" data-cke-saved-href=\"[wblink269]\">Management of Delayed Graft Function<\/a>. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Altered graft function<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li><span lang=\"EN-US\">Later changes in graft function may require a graft biopsy, which will be requested by a senior member of staff.
